For one week, our hearts beat for Africa.

From 16–22 February, the 3rd Hungary-Africa Week took place in Budapest. More than a series of events, the week served as a genuine platform for dialogue and engagement, where concrete intentions for cooperation were expressed and new long-term partnerships were established.

International participation – strengthening partnerships

We had the honour of welcoming official delegations and professional participants from several African countries, including:
Burundi, South Africa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Morocco, Mali, Angola, Togo, Kenya, Ghana, Guinea and Chad.

Throughout the week, nearly 500 Hungarian companies and more than 100 African companies were reached, strengthening the foundations for sustainable economic and professional cooperation.

Multisectoral dialogue

Civil society organisations, businesses, higher education institutions and church representatives came together to exchange ideas and expand their professional networks.
Our HU-MAN multisectoral network welcomed new members, further reinforcing multisectoral collaboration.

During the professional days (17–19 February), between 70 and 150 guests were welcomed daily at the Danubius Hotel Hungaria. The Economic Day on 17 February attracted particularly strong interest.

International conferences

Two major conferences were organised as part of the programme:

  • the 1st Hungary-Africa Medical Conference (18 February)

  • the 2nd Hungary-Africa Rectors’ Conference (19 February)

These meetings produced tangible outcomes:

at the Medical Conference, participants signed a declaration of cooperation,

while the Rectors’ Conference concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding, marking concrete steps toward deeper international cooperation in the fields of healthcare and higher education.

“This is Africa!” – culture and community

On Saturday, 21 February, the “This is Africa!” Cultural Day welcomed several hundred visitors at Hungexpo, organised in cooperation with Africa Expo Budapest.

Through a vibrant programme featuring African dance, music, gastronomy and experience-sharing sessions, the event also reached an estimated 700 additional visitors passing through the venue.

The 3rd Hungary-Africa Week demonstrated that strengthening Hungary–Africa relations is not only a strategic objective, but also a shared commitment and a common vision for the future.

We sincerely thank everyone who contributed to this inspiring week.
The cooperation continues.
